This means title searches going back before that date may have gaps that require alternative sources. The Louisiana State Land Office at doa.la.gov holds original land grants and tract books that may help fill in pre-fire history for Calcasieu Parish property. The office stresses that online records are not official; only in-office records are the official record of the parish.
