Despite incorporation, deed records for St. George property remain under the jurisdiction of the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court. The Airline Highway Branch at 10500 Coursey Boulevard, phone (225) 295-4780, may be more convenient for St. George residents given its location in the southern part of the parish. In Louisiana, incorporation as a city does not create a new land record authority. St. George Recording Fees
Recording fees for St. George (East Baton Rouge Parish) follow the standard state Act 173 schedule under La. R.S. 13:844: 1-5 pages at $105; 6-25 pages at $205; 26-50 pages at $305; 51-plus pages at $305 plus $5 per additional page. The $5 LCRAA portal fee is included. Louisiana Civil Code Article 3338 requires recording to make documents affecting immovable property effective against third parties. Under Louisiana Civil Code Article 2742, recorded documents become permanent East Baton Rouge Parish archives and are not returned after filing.
