Ouachita Parish deed records are organized into the conveyance index and the mortgage index. The conveyance index holds all transfers of ownership: acts of sale, cash sales, donations, exchanges, partitions, oil and gas leases, royalty deeds, rights of way, and easements. Louisiana Civil Code Article 3338 requires recording to make property documents effective against third parties.
