R.S. 13:754, the portal covers all 64 Louisiana parishes and shows filing dates, document types, and instrument numbers at no cost. Full document images require a paid subscription. LaSalle Parish Deed Documents and Recording

LaSalle Parish deed records are organized into two main indexes. The conveyance index holds all transfers of ownership: acts of sale, cash sales, donations, exchanges, partitions, oil and gas leases, royalty deeds, rights of way, and easements. The mortgage index covers mortgages, judgments, tax liens, mechanic's liens, and UCC financing statements filed against real property in the parish.

Louisiana Civil Code Article 3338 requires that documents affecting immovable property be recorded to be effective against third parties. An unrecorded deed or mortgage in LaSalle Parish provides no protection against a later buyer or creditor who acquires the property without actual knowledge of the prior transaction. Recording at the Jena courthouse is the required step to protect all parties involved in a real estate transaction.

Recording fees follow the standard state Act 173 schedule under La. R.S. 13:844: 1-5 pages at $105; 6-25 pages at $205; 26-50 pages at $305; 51-plus pages at $305 plus $5 per additional page. The $5 LCRAA portal fee is included. Documents must have a 2-inch top margin on the first page and 1-inch margins on all other sides. Under Louisiana Civil Code Article 2742, all recorded documents become permanent LaSalle Parish archives and are not returned to the filer.
