Without an envelope, paper documents will be held for pickup for 30 days and then disposed of per retention schedules. E-recording avoids this issue entirely and is the preferred submission method.

Recording fees in Jefferson Parish follow the state Act 173 schedule under La. Certified copies cost $10 per document plus copy costs. The $5 LCRAA portal fee is included in the standard recording fees.
Documents must meet state formatting requirements: 2-inch top margin on the first page, 1-inch margins on all other sides, minimum 8-point type, and standard paper size. Louisiana Civil Code Article 3338 requires recording to bind third parties. Under Louisiana Civil Code Article 2742, recorded documents become permanent Jefferson Parish archives and are not returned after filing. Request certified copies at the time of recording if you need them.
